Acceptance to Aberdeen

It is with great joy that I’ve learned two weeks ago that my application to do PhD ( New Testament) has been approved by the University of Aberdeen. The letter states as follows,

” I am pleased to inform you that your application for admission as a postgraduate student in the University of Aberdeen was approved on behalf of the Senate today.”

I will be working with Dr. Jutta Leonhardt- Balzer, a specialist in the Gospel of John and Philo. My topic is to research “The concept of seeing God in the Gospel of John in light of Philo.” Please pray for me in this process. This is a hard decision for my family to make. For I’m already accepted to a PhD (History and Philosophy) program here at the University of Texas at Dallas, which I begin this summer. However, I would love to go to Aberdeen, and my wife is quite a supporter of my education. The big problem for us now is to finance a 3 year education in the UK, which amounts to $ 50,000 – $ 70,000.

Pray for scholarships opportunities, and other opportunities to fund my study. It would be nice to receive any advise or suggestions.

Oh, and by the way, its not looking financially feasible for me to attend the regional meeting later this month – which is disappointing. I was excited when you pointed it out to me – especially since its so close to “home.”

Congrats! I read Leonhardt-Balzar’s published thesis on Philo and I was impressed. I hope that works out for you. ALso, I have found Andrew Clarke to be a nice person as well. I have a friends there (Ben Reynolds and Scott Becker) who have had a good experience so far (Ben just finished). As for bursaries – pray and wait… 🙂
